Top 5 Noir Movies on Netflix Instant
Film noir is a classic genre that is often overlooked by modern audiences. These films are often dark and brooding with the main character rarely, if ever, finding what they are looking for. You could typify many of them as strange, cruel, and frequently erotic. This eroticism typically comes from the female star that portrays the “femme fatale” of the film. These films often come from a time period that many consider the “golden age of America” yet they focus on the seedy underbellies of it all. Characters are always looking for one more fix, one more heist in the dark of night on the lonely streets of New York, Chicago, or Kansas City. Instead of focusing on booming and happy America, they focused on the darker and more insidious aspects of modern living. I have become a big fan of them in the last couple of years and have been gobbling them up on Netflix. So for you, the Poppers of the night, I present the best noir films you can mainline right now on Netflix instant.

Action Lab Comics Announces First Free Comic on Comixology!
Action Lab Comics is proud to announce it's first free comic on Comixology (and boy what a deal it is)!
The first issue of "The Order of Dagonet", written by "Princeless" scribe Jeremy Whitley and illustrated by the amazing Jason Strutz is now available for free to anyone that uses Comixology. People often tout issues as "jumping on points" but what better jumping on point could you ask for than the first issue! If you've been meaning to check the book out or if you're a fan of "Princeless" (or even just a fan of free stuff) this is your chance to try out a great book. And if that wasn't enough, the free issue is a 44 page double-sized book!
For those who don't know, "The Order of Dagonet" is the tale of the reemergence of mythological creatures into modern England and those tasked with fighting them. When the seal is broken that's been keeping the monsters of lore at bay, the only people who can stop them are the Knights of England. Unfortunately, the age old tradition of knighting has changed a bit since the ages of old. The knights who come to the rescue are not men in shining armor, but instead a burnt out rock star, a Shakespearean actor turned B-movie regular, and an author of popular children's books. They're no heroes, but they're our last defense against the forces of Faerie!
Check out the first issue here: http://www.comixology.com/ The-Order-of-Dagonet-1/ digital-comic/JUL120705
And check out Episode 71 - Modern Heroes, where we interview Jeremy Whitley, the writer of "The Order of Dagonet!"

Dig In: Featuring Thor!
Dig In will be a semi-regular feature I write, introducing characters or creators to folks. I hope it will help folks to get started with new characters they haven’t tried before or expose them to storylines they haven’t read before!
This week featuring: Thor!
You want to read classic tales of Thor?
You should try:
Essential Thor vol. 1-3.
If you want to dig deep into the past of Thor as a Marvel character then this is the place to start. The first four volumes of Essential: Thor cover the entirety of Jack Kirby and Stan Lee’s run on the character. For those who haven’t read them before, Marvel Essentials are large, newspaper print, black and white reprints of classic comics. You lose the color but you gain more issues for less money. If you are willing to skip out on the beginning issues when Lee/Kirby were getting their traction on their new creation my suggestion is to go straight to volume 3 and if you can find it, volume 4. Volume 3 includes the story Thor vs Mangog as well as the first appearance of erstwhile love interest the Lady Sif. Volume 4 concludes Kirby’s run on a character he liked very much and has some cool storylines such as when Thor faces off against the world eating Galactus!
