The cast of Beaucoup Pop is back, bringing you everything you need to know about whats going on in the pop culture world...and maybe some things that you didn't need to know, BUT WE GIVE IT TO YOU ANYWAY!!!
The BIG DAY has come...and gone. Our first "in the field" episode. On this episode we cover 24 Hour Comic Book Day at Collectibles Etc. in Lexington. We interviewed some of the artists involved, including our very own Tressa B who accepted the challenge this year. We shall call her the 24HCBD Virgin! We also had a VERY successful raffle, that's to all the lovely people who stopped by.
Tressa, had at work |
To give you a little history on the event, 24 Hour Comic Book Day is an global, annual event that happens on the first weekend of October, where artists attempt to create a complete 24 page comic in only 24 hours.
The rules are simple...for a comic to qualify: It must be begun and completed within 24 consecutive hours. Only one person may be directly involved in its creation, and it must span 24 pages, or (if an infinite canvas format webcomic is being made) 100 panels.
The creator may gather research materials and drawing tools beforehand, but cannot plan the comic's plot ahead of time or put anything on paper (such as designs and character sketches) until he is ready for the 24 hours to begin. Any breaks (for food, sleep, or any other purpose) are counted as part of the 24 hours.
The Artists |
Scott McCloud originally came up with the challenge as a creative exercise. McCloud drew the first 24-hour comic to prove it could be done on August 31, 1990.
Devil Piggy was happy to accept everyone's raffle tickets |
Also on this episode we chat with fellow Poppers John Ward and Andy Cole. So sit back and enjoy all the silliness as Tressa lose her mind, Matt sells raffle tickets like they're crack and Justin, Kerry and Danny discover the new Japanese Shit-cycle!!
Yeah...that's what you think it is... |
