BCP Mixed Tapes - Top 10 Albums

On this weeks episode we discussed our top 5 favorite albums. As many of us (namely Matt) were on the verge of maddness trying to narrow it down to 5 albums, we decied to post our top 10 favorite ablums. As an additional treat, we've included our most disappointing album as well.

Kerry's Top 10

1. Sigh No More - Mumford and Sons
2. Rumor and Sigh - Richard Thompson
3. Mervielles - Malice Mizer
4. Woodface - Crowded House
5. Child of the Sun - Mayte Garcia
6. Black Holes and Revelations - Muse
7. Where's Neil When You Need Him? - Various Artists
8. Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King - Dave Matthews Band
9. The Individualist - Todd Rundgren
10. Yes, Virginia... - The Dresden Dolls

Most Disappointing Album
Chickenfoot (self titled)

My reasoning - This band is made up of 4 great people! Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony from Van Halen (who I don't LOVE but enjoy), the phenomenal guitarist Joe Satriani, and Chad Smith, the drummer from Red Hot Chili Peppers. I heard of this supergroup and I was like "Whoa! This sounds crazy!" and when I got the album, it was... very mediocre. Didn't enjoy it that much, and I was sorely disappointed by it.

Matt's Top 10

1. Bare - Annie Lennox
2. Brandi Carlile - Brandi Carlile
3. These Four Wall - Shawn Colvin
4. Who Killed Amanda Palmer - Amanda Palmer
5. Body Talk - Robyn
6. Some People Have Real Problems - Sia
7. As I am - Alicia Keys
8. A Fine Frenzy - One Cell in the Sea
9. Love Travels - Angel Taylor <-- This album is AMAZING!
10. Hazards of Love - The Decemberists

Most Disappointing Album
The Reason - Hoobastank
My reasoning - I was in College when this album came out. The song The Reason BLEW up on the radio and I used to sing with it all the time in my car. Naturally, I had to buy the CD. I had no prior exposure to this band so I had no idea what they're prior music sounded like. Once I started listening to the album I quickly realzed that thye rest of the album sounded NOTHING like the title track. I HATE when albums are like that!! Every track sounded like angry grunge rock which is NOT my style during that time in my life. I was listening to albums by bands like Coldplay, Dredg, Acceptance and Marjorie Fair. Bleah! This album just pissed me off and I could never get over it. What can I say, I'm a Scorpio. ^_^

Tressa's Top 10

1. Abby Road - The Beatles

Most Disappointing Album
X&Y - Coldplay
My  reasoning - I loved Coldplay when they released Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head, and I was so psyched to hear their new album in 2005, X&Y....I was so so sooooo disappointed. The album just wasn't nearly as good as the previous, it felt hollow and uninspiring. It turned me off to them completely.
