New Releases for 12/13/11

Here are a few of the New Releases for the week of December 13, 2011. A few good titles, just in time for the holidays, including my personal favorite, The Rocketeer: 20th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray and Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights for the Nintendo 3DS!

MOVIES

The Rocketeer: 20th Anniversary Edition [Blu-ray]
- For the first time, this Blu-ray will present The Rocketeer in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Sadly, no additional features other than the trailer for the film.
Check out a review of the Blu-Ray edition HERE!

Monica & David  [DVD]
 - Monica & David is the love story of two adults with Down syndrome and the family who strives to support their needs. Monica and David are blissfully in love and want what other adults have an independent life. Full of humor, romance and everyday family drama, the film uses intimate fly-on-the wall footage to reveal the complexity of their story. While Monica and David are capable beyond expectations, their parents, afraid of mainstream rejection of adults with intellectual disabilities, have trouble letting go.

VIDEO GAMES
Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights [3DS]

Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights is an adventure game for the Nintendo 3DS where the player navigates a 3D environment, putting together clues and solving puzzles. (Can we say Professor Layton in 3D?)

The game takes place in Paris at the end of the 19th century. The protagonist of the game, the eccentric and mystery-solving archaeologist Doctor Jean-Pierre Lautrec, is a lecturer at the city's Museum of Natural History. Together with his assistant Sophie Coubertin, a university student, he comes into possession of a map that leads to a hidden treasure of Louis XIV of France. On their quest through Paris and the catacombs beneath it, Doctor Lautrec and Sophie are pursued by a crime syndicate and the Knights of the Iron Mask, an order of knights with iron masks and claws.

It's amazing how well The Rocketeer holds up. I bet it's magical on Blu-ray

If you haven't seen Rise of Planet of the Apes you need to watch it immediately. I have no connection to the franchise but my wife and I loved it. There were two moments when I literally cheered.

I'm really excited to watch it (hoping someone will get it for me for Christmas -_^). I'm sad that it doesn't have any extras though...but it's a pretty good price, so maybe that's why?

I was a little surprised by that too. I guess that means they'll be dropping a Super Duper Collector's Edition before we know it.
